esperanza’s mark

I was overjoyed to create this scroll on the occasion of Mestra Esperanza Susanna Flecha’s elevation to the Order of the Mark. Design and scroll by me, based on a compilation of a few late-16th century Italian engravings. Text by Ollam Lanea inghean Uí Chiaragáin, in the style of Torquato Tasso’s Amyntas. Let her arrows never fail her quiver, nor wild deer depart the woods, for Esperanza Susanna Flecha fears no want of sport, nor of prowess. Thus we name her a companion of the Order of the Mark. Done this 13th of September, AS LX at Stierbach’s Birthday by Abran King and Anya Queen, most gracious monarchs of fair Atlantia’s shores and lands.
